The Diocese of Cuddapah was erected by the Papal Bull "Quoriam
ad recte universum" dated October 28, 1976
of Pope Paul VI. It comprises the civil districts of Cuddapah
and Chittoor which hitherto were part of the Diocese of
Nellore.
Bp Aruliah Somavarapa was appointed the First Bishop of Cuddapah.
